The most dog-friendly place to eat in Perth is Union Kitchen at Mindarie Marina. It has a dog menu, self-serve water bowls, a wall of framed dog photos, and staff who offer your dog a treat. For a pub, go to the Balmoral Hotel in Victoria Park, where the courtyard has the space and shade dogs need.
“Dog friendly” covers a lot of ground. At some venues it means a shaded beer garden with water bowls. At others it means two footpath tables, or the smoking area, or nothing at all on a stadium event day. So we ranked these on where your dog can actually sit and how comfortable it will be there, then on whether the food and drink justify the trip. Policy reliability, practicalities, value and dog extras came next.
One caveat applies to every venue here: these are house rules, not guarantees. Read the section below on why it’s worth calling ahead before you load the dog into the car.
Quick comparison
| Rank | Venue | Area | Where dogs can sit | Best for | Watch out for |

| 8 | Naked Apple Cider House | Karragullen | Gardens and lawns | A Hills day out | Closed Mon and Tue, limited weekday hours |

Before you go: call ahead
Every venue on this list was dog friendly when we checked in October 2026. That can change quickly.
As far as we could find, only three of these ten (Lo Quay, Mash and Naked Apple) say they welcome dogs on their own website. The rest are dog friendly in practice, which is how a lot of hospitality works. A written rule reads like a promise, and venues prefer to keep some room to say no: on a packed Sunday, after an incident with another dog, or when a particular dog isn’t coping with the crowd. That discretion is also why policies can tighten overnight without an announcement.
The legal side is simpler than most people think. Under the national Food Standards Code, a food business may allow dogs in an outdoor dining area if it chooses to. It must allow assistance animals. Inside, where food is handled, pet dogs generally aren’t allowed. Beyond that, it’s the venue’s call.
So, for any venue here, a quick call does three things. It confirms dogs are still welcome. It tells you where they can sit that day. And it gets you a table outside rather than the last one by the bins.
How we chose
We started with 33 candidates from venue listings, local guides, Perth Reddit threads and the Google local results. Each was scored against criteria we set before the research began. Most weight went to where dogs are allowed, how comfortable they’ll be (shade, water, space, distance from traffic) and the quality of the food and drink. Next came whether the policy holds up in practice, practicalities like parking and bookings, and value. Dog extras and the setting counted for least.
Evidence came from venue websites and FAQs, samples of recent Google reviews, three Perth Reddit threads on dog-friendly dining, and independent guides, including two written by a travel writer who visited with her dog. Star ratings didn’t decide the order. We have not visited these venues with a dog ourselves. Information was last checked in October 2026.
1. Union Kitchen, Mindarie
Best for: brunch where your dog is treated as a customer, not tolerated.
Why it made our Top 10
Union Kitchen sits on Mindarie Marina, and dogs are built into how it runs. It has a separate dog menu, and an independent dog-travel guide lists a Puppiccino, a Mutt Shake, a Dogs Bark-fest and a Pupsicle on hot days. There’s a pile of water bowls with a watering can so you can help yourself, and a wall of framed photos of dogs who’ve visited.
The outdoor seating is covered, which matters in a Perth summer and on wet mornings. The food holds up too: it’s rated 4.6 from more than 1,500 Google reviews, and the beach and marina walk make it easy to tire the dog out first.
What locals mention
“Dog friendly” and “dog menu” are among the most-mentioned topics in Union Kitchen’s Google reviews. Recent reviewers describe staff asking if they can give the dog a treat, and say the treats are better than the usual supermarket biscuits. It was recommended in a 2022 Perth Reddit thread on dog-friendly cafés, and Perth Is OK included it in its 2024 dog-friendly café list.
Things to know
- It’s at the far northern edge of the metro area, about 40 minutes from the CBD.
- Weekdays and Sundays it’s breakfast and lunch only. It opens until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Weekend mornings get busy, so book.
Top 10 Perth tip
Walk the dog along the marina and beach paths first. A tired dog makes for a much calmer brunch.

2. Balmoral Hotel, Victoria Park
Best for: a long pub lunch where the dog can stretch out.
Why it made our Top 10
The Balmoral is the pub that comes up most consistently when Perth dog owners talk about where to go. It has a big courtyard with space and shade, three bars, a full bistro menu and a crowd that’s used to having dogs around. It’s rated 4.4 from more than 5,000 Google reviews.
The pub also supports the Dogs’ Refuge Home, according to So Perth’s October 2026 guide.
What locals mention
This is the only pub recommended in two separate Perth Reddit threads, three years apart. A 2022 comment called it “great for doggos”. A 2025 reply described a “lovely courtyard setting with lots of space and shade and many dog lovers”. Both mentioned a dog wash some weekends. We couldn’t confirm that the dog wash still runs, so don’t plan around it. Google reviews are mostly positive about the food, with the odd complaint about overcooked steaks and slow service on busy nights.
Things to know
- The Balmoral doesn’t publish a dog policy, so ring ahead if you’re bringing a big group or more than one dog.
- Albany Highway parking can be tight at peak times.

3. Seasonal Brewing Co., Maylands
Best for: beer lovers who want a relaxed garden rather than a crowded pub.
Why it made our Top 10
Seasonal brews on site and pours it in a leafy beer garden on Guildford Road. The beer has won awards: the WA Good Food Guide named its black oat cream NEIPA the best beer in WA for 2024. The kitchen gets strong reviews, with vegan options mentioned in more than 30 of them. It’s rated 4.6 on Google.
It also has a long-standing dog reputation. In a 2022 Reddit thread, a commenter who appeared to work there said they keep dog treats behind the bar. A 2024 thread recommended it again for dog owners.
What locals mention
Two separate Reddit threads two years apart recommend it for dogs, and So Perth and Perth Is OK both list it. One 2024 comment said dogs were welcome “inside and out”, but we couldn’t confirm that anywhere else, so plan on the beer garden. Recent Google reviews praise the beer, staff and atmosphere. One recent reviewer found the meals lukewarm.
Things to know
- It’s closed on Tuesdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays it doesn’t open until 3pm.
- It’s a short walk from Maylands station.

4. Lo Quay River Cafe, Wilson
Best for: a riverside walk with the dog, then breakfast on the lawn.
Why it made our Top 10
Lo Quay sits on the Canning River, and the cafe’s own website says dogs on leads are “very welcome”. Dogs can join you in the outdoor areas, which include shaded umbrella tables and lawn tables you can move to chase the shade, according to a January 2026 guide. There are river views from every seat, walking and cycling paths right past the door, and a playground next door if you’ve got kids as well as a dog.
The cafe has recently been renovated, and the front verandah is now under cover.
What locals mention
It’s recommended for dog owners in two separate Perth Reddit threads, in 2022 and 2025. “Dog friendly” is one of the recurring topics in its Google reviews. The food is solid rather than outstanding: it’s rated 4.2, and reviews tend to praise the setting, cakes and coffee more than the meals.
Things to know
- It’s popular. A 2025 Reddit commenter said parking and a free table can be hard to find.
- Go early on weekends.
Top 10 Perth tip
Do the river walk first, then grab one of the lawn tables. You can move them into the shade as the morning warms up.

5. Rosemount Hotel, North Perth
Best for: a weekend lunch in a big, leafy beer garden.
Why it made our Top 10
The Rosemount is best known for live music, but its backyard beer garden has been a dog owners’ weekend spot for years. It’s large, with covered areas and new heaters and blinds upstairs. The pub has hosted International Dog Day events in the beer garden, and its own reply to a September 2026 review calls it a “sunny, dog-friendly pub”.
The food is good value for a city-fringe pub, with a $16 pizza night on Tuesdays.
What locals mention
“Dog friendly” appears in a cluster of Google reviews, alongside the beer garden as the most-mentioned feature. A 2022 Reddit thread had several Rosemount recommendations, including one person who “used to bring our dogs… on the weekends for lunch”. Recent reviews are strongly positive. The main complaint is kitchen waits on busy nights.
Things to know
- Gig nights get busy and loud, which won’t suit every dog. Weekend lunchtimes are calmer.
- One recent guide says dogs need to leave by 6pm. The pub doesn’t publish this and we couldn’t confirm it, so ask if you plan to stay late.

6. The Guildford Hotel and the Rose & Crown, Guildford
Best for: an afternoon in Guildford with two classic pubs a short walk apart.
Why it made our Top 10
These two are a short walk apart in Guildford’s heritage centre, so we’ve treated them as one stop. Both are big, historic pubs with garden areas where dogs are welcome.
The Guildford Hotel is a restored 1800s pub known for smoked meats and generous portions, rated 4.3 from more than 5,000 Google reviews. So Perth’s October 2026 guide says dogs can join you in the beer garden or on the front verandah. The Rose & Crown is one of WA’s oldest hotels. Its beer garden is the single most-mentioned thing in its Google reviews, alongside the fire pit and the Sunday roast.
What locals mention
Recent reviews of both are strong on food and portions. Dog-specific evidence is thinner here than for the entries above. Both appear in So Perth’s 2026 list, the Rose & Crown is also in Perth Is OK’s guide, and a 2022 Reddit commenter mentioned seeing dogs outside at The Guildford.
Things to know
- Neither pub publishes a dog policy, so this is the entry where calling ahead matters most.
- Reviewers recommend booking at the Rose & Crown, even for lunch.
Quick facts
- Locations
- The Guildford Hotel, 159 James Street. Rose & Crown, 105 Swan Street
- Where dogs can sit
- Beer gardens (The Guildford also has a front verandah)
- Hours

7. Mash Brewing, Henley Brook
Best for: the most dog-ready setup in the Swan Valley, if you’re not in a hurry.
Why it made our Top 10
On dog facilities alone, Mash would rank higher. It has a dedicated dog page that sets out exactly what you get. There’s a shaded beer garden and covered outdoor areas for wet days. Water bowls are refilled through the day, and there’s a jar of treats behind the bar. Dogs need to stay on a lead, and staff will help you find a quieter spot if your dog needs it.
What locals mention
The food is where Mash falls down. It’s rated 4.0 on Google, lower than everything else on this list, and waiting times come up in dozens of reviews. One recent family waited close to two hours for food. Other recent reviewers had good lunches with quick service, so it seems to depend on how busy it is.
Things to know
- Go on a weekday afternoon, which Mash itself suggests is the quietest time for dogs still getting used to crowds.
- It closes at 6pm Sunday to Thursday.
Quick facts
- Location
- 10250 West Swan Road, Henley Brook
- Where dogs can sit
- Beer garden and covered outdoor areas, on lead
- Hours

8. Naked Apple Cider House, Karragullen
Best for: a Hills day out where the dog can lie on the grass.
Why it made our Top 10
Naked Apple sits on 6.4 hectares of gardens and bushland, and its own website says “Feel free to bring your fur babies, too”. Tables are spread across a deck, a courtyard and the gardens, so you can find a quiet spot away from the crowd. The food rates well (4.5 on Google), with the porchetta, steak sandwich and apple sticky pudding coming up often.
What locals mention
Recent reviewers keep coming back to the gardens and the setting. Experience Perth Hills and So Perth both list it as dog friendly. The main complaints are prices, and an indoor dining room that was cold for one winter dinner.
Things to know
- It’s about 40 minutes from the CBD.
- It’s closed Monday and Tuesday, and only open for lunch on some weekdays. Check the website before you drive up.
- Book ahead on weekends.

- Location
- 1088 Brookton Highway, Karragullen
- Where dogs can sit
- Gardens and outdoor areas

9. Gage Roads Freo Brewery, Fremantle
Best for: a beer by the harbour without needing to book.
Why it made our Top 10
Gage Roads is in the old A Shed on Victoria Quay, looking straight out at the container ships. Dogs are welcome in all the outdoor areas, according to an independent guide written by a travel writer who visited with her dog. It doesn’t take bookings, so you can just turn up after a walk along the harbour. It’s rated 4.3 on Google, and reviews are positive about the share menu and pizzas.
What locals mention
Sunset views and the playground are the most-mentioned topics in reviews. One recent reviewer found prices a little higher than elsewhere but felt the setting was worth it.
Things to know
- The waterfront is exposed, so pick a cooler time of day in summer.
- It’s popular with families, and the playground gets busy.

- A Shed, Victoria Quay (Peter Hughes Drive), Fremantle
- Where dogs can sit
- Outdoor areas
- Hours
- From 11am daily
- Booking
- Not taken

Also worth knowing
- Little Creatures, Fremantle: leashed dogs are welcome in the front beer garden overlooking the harbour. It narrowly missed out, mainly because Gage Roads gave Fremantle better outdoor access.
- The Peach Pit, Scarborough: dogs are welcome in the outdoor area across from the beach, and there’s a dog photo wall. There’s little shade on a hot afternoon.
- Toast, East Perth: outdoor tables with umbrellas overlooking the river. A good breakfast option.
- The Camfield, Burswood: dogs are welcome in all outdoor areas, except on Optus Stadium event days. Check the stadium calendar first.
- The Beaufort, Highgate: dogs are welcome on the ground floor only.
