How We Rank
Pick the question, set the criteria, then do the homework.
Every List Starts With a Question
Before a list is written, we decide exactly what it is answering and who it is for. "Things to do with toddlers" is for a parent with a one to four year old, so fencing, toilets and shade count for more than how famous a place is. That question decides what gets measured.
The Criteria Are Set Before the Ranking
Each list picks the four or five things that actually decide the answer, such as wind shelter, shade, parking, pram access, service area or opening hours. They are explained on the list itself, and the ranking follows them.
Where the Information Comes From
- Our own visits, for the places we know first-hand.
- People who have been: recent Google reviews, Perth Reddit threads and local guides. We read what they say, not the star rating.
- Opening hours, prices, service areas and access details, checked against the business's own website or the council page.
Star ratings never decide the order. A place ranks on the criteria for that list.
Every List Shows When It Was Last Checked
The "Last checked" date on each list is the last time the whole list was reviewed. When something changes, we update the entry and the date. If a list can't be kept current, it comes down.
Corrections
If something on a list is wrong or out of date, tell us. We check it, fix it and update the list's date.
